Celebrate Texas Independence Day in style. This year we’re doing things a bit differently.  We have organized a very cool event at MEXIQUE to celebrate March 2.

As many as you can put in your belly, but you won't be able to take any To-Go so get ready to eat! All for only $20 per person. We'll get you well fed, we'll get some beers in ya and you'll be well prepared for the night's festivities.

This week is a bit of a curve ball for our normal game watching.  First, the game is on Thursday, not Friday as it has been in the past.  Second, it's later in the evening at 7 PM, not earlier in the morning.

Many of our normal game-watching venues are closed for Thanksgiving, but we have located The Globe Pub as a back-up.

The Globe is located in Chicago's northside neighborhood, Northcenter, at 1934 W. Irving Park Rd. (4000N) in Lakeview just east of N. Damen Ave. (2000W)

The Chicago Texas Exes have a variety of programs and events throughout each year. Here are some major events that we currently undertake. If you don't see something on the list, just drop us a line and you can help us address that need!

• Game Watching Parties - We gather at The Brownstone, our official alumni bar, to watch all the Texas sporting events. Game watching parties are open to everyone and a great way to meet fellow Chicago Texas Exes. The Brownstone offers a "Texas Club". Sign up and receive a t-shirt and special Texas cup which entitles you to beer discounts whenever you visit. A portion of the money you spend is returned to the Chapter by the Brownstone for our scholarship fund!
• Independence Day - Each year the Chapter gathers to salute the state, The University and the alumni who made our education possible. We usually hold a silent auction in conjunction with this event. This is our major fundraiser for our scholarship endowment.
• Scholarship Committee - The Chicago Chapter has established an endowment in order to award an annual scholarship to first time students who are from the Chicagoland area and entering UT. The committee members meet to review the applicants and select the winner(s).
• Exes for Texas - We're a long way from Austin, but we represent the University at local college nights by working with the admissions office.
• Athletics - Our Chicago Chapter carries the Texas Longhorn flag to the fields and courts of Chicago! We currently have teams participating in Flag Football, Beach Volleyball and more!
• TEBN - If you are new to the city or someone who's been here for awhile, it is always great to meet other Texas Exes. You never know when that connection can come in handy. We are looking for people interested in helping coordinate regular networking events.
• Young Alumni - Many of our members are recent graduates new to Chicago. Recently there has been some interest in forming a young alumni group to meet those needs. Let us know if you'd like to get involved.
